It is a great idea to invest in car seat protector because having spills in the car can be a complete nightmare. I have firsthand experience of this, I was transporting some trays of food for an event and the Moroccan stew gravy spilled into my boot. I cleaned it up, but a week or so later the smell was still there, my partner looked into the boot and took out the carpet and found that the gravy had leaked right down into the spare wheel and was in the seal around the boot door.
